Why would you not stay with your grandparents until your senior year is over? You might consider staying with friends,a s oppose to illegal means of renting an apartment that could conceivable get your grandparents as well as your mother in legal problems for child neglect.
Your grandparents might do as you say, rent the apartment in their name and list you as an occupant. This is fraud as your grandparents have no intentions of staying in the rental unit.

NO that's not true. If they sign a lease with no intention of living there that is fraud.
Since you are underage NO Apt complex will allow this. Your name will have to go as an Occupant since you will be living there. This will not work and would be against the law.
