I need a good site for freelance services?

Forget elance. They allow you to post only so many bids on a job per month. Then you have to PAY to place more bids, but you aren't even guaranteed the job because other people might put in a better bid!

And no one mentioned it yet, but forget Fiverr too. They give an abnormal amount of power to buyers. If a buyer leaves an unjustified negative remark, customer service claims they can do nothing to remove it. That is why many sellers are leaving in droves.

If anything, give these new kids on the block a try. I heard one of the founders is a former Fiverr Seller, so he knows first hand how crappy they can treat their sellers. Seems to me the site will be more balanced and fair.

Keep trying different Craigslist ad wording, perhaps representing yourself as an expert in some area like landscape.

To help web sites rank better in search engines there is quite a demand for articles of about 500 words on various subjects, basic filler articles get around $3, experts writing for authority sites get a days wages for one article. Brokers like iwriter.com or textbroker.com may be easier to work with than bidding on article packets on freelance marketplaces like Odesk.com or Elance.com.

If you had skills you could perform over the internet, there are a variety of tasks available Elance alone reports their (mostly skilled) workers earned $285 Million in 2013

Writing and Translation is the 3rd biggest in demand work, after programming and design.

I myself was pondering the same thing. The problem with most of the elance sites is that in order to make anything substantial, you need to have specialized skills to offer. I tried Bubblews and the incentives are absolutely dreadful. $.01 per view? It's just not worth the time and hassle. Fiverr is another one I've tried to buy and sell on, but with Fiverr I've encountered nothing but bad customer service, scammers, and undesirable payouts. They take 20% of your earnings! I looked at this WageFarer site and I have to say, this looks like the best opportunity for sellers hands down! They just need to build their website traffic. I'll be keeping an eye on it, thanks!

Bubblews is a way to make a little extra money, but it is more like social gathering place. You write articles and get paid $0.01 per view, like/dislike, and/or comment. It could help make a little extra money, but nothing huge.

My best advice for online money or online job (if you have no online skills) is to make a website. You can make money off of a website about 4 or 5 different ways. Affiliate marketing is probably the best way to make money. Affiliate marketing is kinda like freelancing. You can talk about any subject you want and make it profitable. It is worth looking into!

My day job isn't cutting it in terms of pay, but it is also hard to get a second job. (No one wants to hire for just part time anymore!) I'd like to make some money on my OWN schedule. Can anyone recommend a good freelancing site?

FYI, I like to write poetry and short stories and draw. I wouldn't object to any odd job type stuff either like gardening or running errands for people. I don't know if there are any jobs that let you offer services like that, but I figure anything is possible!

And before anyone says it: yes, I did try offering these services via free Craigslist ads. Never got me anywhere.
