Yea, obvious scam, still catches some desperate, greedy or dumb people.
There are report of this landline served by VERIZON WASHINGTON, DC INC. is involved in scams, including federal grant offers.

Really doesn't sound legit. Just tell her to send the check - if they ask for any personal information or for you to sign up for anything, it's a scam. The government doesn't phone you ahead of time to give you a refund, and doesn't reward people for paying taxes on time.
Sounds like a scam! People from the Government don't go out their way to give you money that's for sure. Also, even if she sends you the check DO NOT CASH IT because it could be fraudulent and you could get in big trouble!
So Ive been getting these calls from DC and I finally answered one and the woman said she was from the government and that since I paid my taxes on time I was eligible to receive about $800 from the government to pay off debts or medical bills I could barely understand a word she said she had such a hick accent but I was wondering if anyone knew about this before the number is (202) 621-0743
