I think it's probably borderline. If you don't have other expenses like paying back student loans, car payment, insurance, dining out, entertainment, etc then you'll have enough.
Try to get a roommate to help with the expenses. If you have to pay for heating and cooling, it's probably as high as 200 per month on the coldest and hottest months and St. Louis rarely has any months that's not really hot or really cold.
If your rent is more than one quarter of your monthly income you will be living tight. Also if your eating out a lot that will drive up your food cost per week by a ton. But the main thing to remember is try very hard to not spend more than one weeks pay per month for your rent. At $15 per hour before taxes come out your pay is $600 per week for a 40 hour week that is. After taxes you may bring home $400-$500 but closer to $400 than $500 Being single really hurts lol
You're kidding! $15 an hr is plenty to live on. I was making $14 an hour and I split an apt with someone for about $800 and had money leftover still. It's not a ton of money, but it's a living wage for sure. Especially of apts are $500/mo, you'll do just fine.... Here's the problem though: you don't want to be signing a lease for your first job, or the first 90 days. Big no-no to assume your job is secure in first 90 days
BUT if you have car payments, or anything like that, then it will be tough.
I highly recommend, though, that you stay at home, if you can. Save money. Open an ira and put in $25 a month- you'll collect interest for years to come. Open a savings account, and put moNey in, whenever you have some money to spare. You'll be happy you did.
Only you know what your bills are. Landlords require your earnings to be @3x your rent.
You are in trouble. Stay home for awhile. Try to build up your savings.
I just turned 18 and I live in the St. Louis area. Rent around here is aboit 500 bucks a month on average. As a single guy, would I be able to afford to live on my own? This is my first job offer and Im hoping to get my own place. Thanks
