There are upscale areas and very terrible parts of Mexico. In general, the government is less stable and Mexico is less safe than the US. But, not everywhere in Mexico has drug cartel shootouts like you hear about on the news. Areas near tourist destinations tend to be "sanitized" of major crime, but there are other areas that are exceptionally unsafe.
Not really a catch. It's just a different country with a different economy and a different lifestyle.
The Mexican constitution prohibits foreigners from owning property. When property is "bought" it is owned by a trust. A bank is the trustee and is the owner of record. Most desirable property is within the restricted zone.
There are 3/4 bedroom houses in the US for MUCH less than that.
For the typical Mexican, that would be expensive.
I was browsing and saw a 3/4 bedroom house for about 500k. The house was VERY nice in a gated community and im curious whats the catch? A house like that would be worth atleast 2 mill in the us. Did i see a false price
