The knocks on the door are probably trying to find out if you're home. Most burglars don't want a "hot" robbery, meaning they don't want anybody home. It is comforting in a way for you, because they only want your stuff. it's very common for them to knock.
The IM is weird, but who knows what that is about. The police and probably trace it back to a computer.
Anyway, definitely take extra safety precautions. Lock your doors. Keep the lights on. Get random on/off timers for the house so it looks like someone is home. Use care about being home alone...
Creepy, report the incidents to your local police. Maybe they can schedule extra patrols around your neighborhood.
Very creepy .call the police
No, of course not. If someone wanted to break in, they would.
We have had some break ins in our neighborhood and it appears someone may be wanting to break in our house.
A couple weeks ago, around 9:15 at night, while my husband was gone, the dogs alerted me to a noise in the living room. I went in there to hear someone literally pounding on the front door. I thought at first it might be my husband, but asked, "Who is it?" As soon as I said that and stood in front of the door (which has a glass oval) the pounding stopped and there was no answer.
Then, this past Sunday night, again around 8:30, just turning dark, someone rang the doorbell. My husband answered, opened the door but talked through the security door (which we just had installed). A young man in his late teens with multiple piercings asked to borrow a phone. My husband lied and said we only had land lines. The guy left.
So last night I was working online when I got an IM (it appeared to be anonymous) that said only, "Hi Carol. Hummingbirds can't walk." We have new pics over our sofa that can be seen through the window in the living room. These pics are of hummingbirds. I have not discussed these pics with any of my friends and I only use Yahoo IM for my job, preferring to email and call friends instead.
All of these things happened after we took down a fence surrounding our front yard that had a Beware of Dog sign on it.
What is he trying to do?
