Is this a modeling scam?

It's a scam. Nobody hires a model based in photos alone as they have no way to know how old the photo is or if you've gained or lost weight, changed your hair, etc. For clothing you ALWAYS go in person for a go-see and fitting to see how the clothes look on you before you get the job. Even Adriana Lima has to go in person before she is booked as no outfit looks good on everyone

Nobody pays a model before a shoot either, you are always paid 30 days later.

And nobody pays an unknown model $700. Why would they when they could call Ford or Elite and get someone from the New Faces division for $300/day who they know has been trained and has perfect model measurements? Unknown unsigned models wouldn't get more than $100 for any job

This is a fake check scam. They will send you a check for $3000, ask you to deposit it, keep $300, then send the sets to some third party via Western Union or Moneygram

DO NOT give your address for any reason

Also perverts post fake modeling jobs to find girls to kidnap and abuse. If this was legit they would have told you to come to their office or photo studio

Need more proof. From a new address send them a random picture of someone who is definitely not model material. I can guarantee you get the same response

Hard to say. Most modeling agency scams involve an upfront fee for a photo shoot, or something like that; maybe they'll charge a so-called representation fee. you'll never get any REAL work.

This really just sounds like a classic " we'll send you a fake check and you will send us some real cash back later via WU" scam. you have the right to let them send you a ( probably fake) check, you can wait to see what they want you to do with it. if they want you to cash it and then use WU or similar means to send back ANY part of it, it's a SCAM.

Talking such money sight unseen sounds rather scammy, there are lots of buying scams involving counterfeit checks on craigslist, the worst possible outcome, crime gangs in LA and other areas have recruited teens into modeling auditions through Facebook, only to kidnap them into forced prostitution. They can extract 1/4 Million a year of such a slave.

One example story

http://www.xojane.com/it-happened-to-me/...

look up the modeling agency in the better business bureau. It will tell you if they have a good reputations or not.

So I applied on Craigslist for a modeling job. They gave me more info saying it's to model clothes and dresses. It had the website on model may jam for the designer. But the website on the model may ham account for the clothes won't pull up. The guy told me everything is paid for and that I get paid $700 in total and that before I get paid $300 then I will get the rest after we shoot. There was no details on where cause he said they are still getting that together. Is this a scam? He only asked for height size shirt and waist and so on. Also asked for mailing address and name and phone number to mail check. Don't know help?
