Is this legal?

You can legally set up a camera as long as it only shows an image of a public area - so the common access to both flats is fine. The only issue is when people in houses set them up in a way which shows part of the garden of a neighbouring property. If you have a front door opening onto the street it can be watched by a camera, but if you own the garden in front no-one can watch your door. You own nothing in front of your door - so they can point it at your door with no problems.

Legal, yes, this is legal.

However, since they do not own the property they need the owners consent. The owner can take it down if they want to. As an owner myself I wouldn't though. There is no harm in leaving it.

I think, but can't be sure, your first answer here is correct. But I'd speak to the police, on a non-emergency line, about what's going on - especially regarding the drugs, if this is true!

Yes it is legal. There are cameras in common areas across the country! The only problem would be between them & the landlord if they failed to get proper permission for the instillation. But that is between them & the landlord.

Outdoor space is not private and there is no expectation of privacy. Legally they can put up cameras. The landlord may or may not approve.

Seems they want they to know if Police arrive to flush the drugs.

Okay we live in an apartment. There is only one other apartment we share the front door with. There is new people that came in there. (Druggys) and they have set up a damn camera right outside thr front door. Is this legal? I wouldn't want them to film my every damn move and who comes to visit me or who doesn't. Understandle if it's their own house. But there's other people living in there! So my question is. Is it legal to set up a private camera if you're living in an apartment? They are so full of drugs they get ******* paranoid.. They even called the police on us because the door was stuck and I was trying to open it!
