Kentucky - is landlord responsible for air duct cleaning?

I asked the maintenance manager re the air duct info. The cheapest so far I was quoted for the cleaning was $250. Worth it - yes. Hard to come up with on disability check - yes, which is why I was asking.

Unless you can prove there is a defect in the air ducts, legally the land lord does not have to clean them. If you can prove a defect, then the land lord legally must remediate the defect.

try google it also

No, cleaning them is not required.

If your COPD disable you then the landlord has to make accommodation for you. But YOU pay for that accommodation, all he has to do is consent to the cleaning.

If you can prove that the home is uninhabitable or dangerous (as uncleared ducts can be) then the landlord has to clean them or let you out of your lease.

I have a hard time understanding how you know the entire history of the air ducts of this property back to 1970 since you have only lived there for a year.

Chicken Little...the sky is falling...

If I had COPD I would be VERY careful about where I moved. I'd do that air duct research before I moved in.

And if I was experiencing tripled symptoms I'd just have the damn ducts cleaned. It's not that expensive and my health isn't worth risking.

Your recourse is to move, or pay to have it cleaned yourself.

I have a question. I moved in a 2 bedrm townhouse, no basement, a year ago. Since then my COPD flareups have tripled. The place was built in the 70's and has not ever had air duct cleaning. Do I have any recourse other than to move or pay for it myself? Thanks for any info,
