Moved into triplex, German Cockroach infestation, please help!?

The place was not clean.

You moved in anyway.

You didn't select it because you had tons of options and this was the best place.

You selected it because you can't afford better OR you have crappy credit & no one will rent to you OR some other reason that kept you from moving into a better place.

I think you are doing really well. The landlord is not a slumlord.

Orkin is as good as any other pest control company.

But really, are you making a stink about nothing? You saw dead bugs but not live bugs.

You sweep them up and they are gone.

I am unaware of Orkin below rankings. They have been in business in the United States for many years. It would indicate they have done something right.

You need not keep calling them. There is an in expensive electronic devise you may purchase at Wal Mart, Home Depot, Lowe's or Ace Hardware and many other retail outlets that you might find locally.

You simply plug them into your electrical outlet, and they will rid your place and possibly unintentionally your neighbors of the roaches and other nagging pest you might have in your adjoining rental units

I have used them for about 3 years now and the roaches have disappeared *** well as ants and a few other critters that I no longer find inside my home.

I hope this has been some benefit to you, good luck.

"FIGHT ON"

If the roaches aren't gone in the next week, I would start looking for a new place. I'm a landlord. You should be able to legally get out of the lease due to unsanitary conditions. Make sure you take photos of the dozens of live roaches. Roaches are different than common house bugs like ants. They are dirtier and more dangerous to your health (contributing to asthma for one thing). Good luck.

Let the process unfold and you may be surprised.

I just moved into a triplex, literally 48 hours ago. The previous tenants were disgusting hoarders (that's where I'm assuming the problem came from).

While cleaning up the rest of the previous tenants mess I found dozens of dead cockroaches all over the place. I freaked out and the first thing I thought of was to call Orkin. I asked them to exterminate the place for us. They came out the next morning and sprayed the whole place down. He told us they'll be coming out of where ever they're nesting for the next 5-7 days and will die, conditions will be livable, this problem CAN be contained and we can get rid of them 100%. (side note YES we are communicating with the landlord and he's helping us out and reimbursing us for all of this)

I've been doing online research for hours now and I'm absolutely mortified. People keep saying that apartments/multiple unit buildings are basically doomed because they'll never go away. They'll always be there just going from one unit to the next.

I'm absolutely heartbroken at this point, it took us so long to find a place to live and now its an infested one. Today I looked at Orkin and they have rather low ratings/reviews from customers and that makes me worry. I don't know what to do at this point. There is no food in that house, just our boxes filled with belongings. We're clean freaks and my significant other can not stand the sight of even one of them.

I don't know what to do at this point.

Anyone please help.

I have no experience with this
