You could offer to pay half the cost.
He can wait until u complain enough and annoy him or he can blow u off until u prove its a health violation. If it's not in your contract that he was going to do that he really doesn't have too... Good luck
Nothing to say it has to be changed. you signed a lease to stay in the property and pay rent for it for xx amount of months and that is what you do. You signed up with that carpet as part of the deal.
if landlord refuses to do anything and the smell is as bad as you claim - then I would take the carpet up, roll it up and put it in the cellar out of the way
Have it tested or call the health dept and see if they deem it unsafe.
Ok. So I recently moved in a 2 months ago. At first, the carpet was newly washed. New smell or anything. About a week in. Horrible dog pee and poop smells arose from the carpet. I tried everything, rug doctor. Pet deodorizing, about 5 carpet cleaners. Nothing stays permanent. I can't even invite people cause it smells so nasty. It's a shame cause its not a bad house besides the carpet. Previous owners ruined it. It has gotten me sick once and I feel it's a health hazard. I have mentioned it to the land lord (nice guy) but real cheap skate. He tried deodorizing it. Didn't work. Mentioned it again and he said he was gonna try a new deodorizer. I am getting sick of it. It's not gonna work and it's just dragging time. I pay good money for the place. I don't think it is health friendly or fair for this. How do I get this situation fixed or is there a way to get my deposit back and leaving this joint without hurting my record? I live in Ga.
