Need advice about starting an independent local newspaper?

Although the daily newspapers are dying due to readily accessed information on the internet, the "niche" newspaper is thriving. People love targeted information and opinions that focus on local issues delivered or available to them in the form of printed material. If you can distribute it into areas where people are already waiting (such as restaurants or Dr. Offices), people will read it. I print a newspaper for my church and it is incredibly well received. An article on www.makemynewspaper.com really helped me. I'll reference it in the sources for you. Maybe it will help you.

Advertising takes a lot of cold calling, hope you're not shy. You just have to go out and talk to people. There is something called SCORE in my area, it's retired businessmen who help you with new businesses. Maybe they are nationwide, or at least can help you online. I wish I could help you more, but I'm not really sure, but just wanted to wish you luck, you sound very enterprising and should go far.

Newspapers are dying. News can be found free on the internet.

Don't waste your time and money. Find a different path.

no, much of the decline is because people can get news from the web and 24 hour news channels. don't do it unless you have a lot of money to throw away.

45% of the people in my city identify as republican or conservative but there is not any local newspaper or any other media outlet that is not far left leaning. I think there is a market but I need help on how to start something like this

Ik print is an expensive and slowing dying industry but much of that is due to the political views of many papers are against many peoples ideology. Second the over 50 crowd is a big reader of papers so there is a market.no doubt How would I get advertisers and people on board?
