I'll recommend WordPress over any other CMS out there. You can try the services of a site like DeNovo Press for creating personal or professional blog.
The most popular platforms are blogger/blogspot, wordpress online and the software version of wordpress

BLOGGER.com is another one, which was bought-out a couple of years ago, by Guess Who, yeh...GOOGLE..!!
One thing you might not know is that MOST hosting companies now offer WORDPRESS for free with their hosting packages.
That way you are in total control of what you can and can't do on your BLOG.
For instance if you set your BLOG up with BLOGGER.com and you wanted to say, put ADWORDS on your pages to get some monet that would be fine, because Google owns ADWORD...
But if you wanted to put YAHOO or BING equivelant on your BLOG because they pay more... Do you think GOOGLE would aloow you to do this?
The short answer is NO>>>!!
Allof the BLOG companies have their own RULES & REGULATIONS, so it might be an idea to read their terms & conditions before making a decision.
But all this depends on WHAT you want to do with your blog, AND what the SUBJECT MATTER IS, you MIGHT find that your chosen subject is ONE that the BLOG companies may NOT ALLOW.
On the other hand, if you HOST your Blog with an independant HOSTING COMPANY, you have a much greater "Right To FREE Speach.

Just type in "Blog Hosting" or "Web Hosting" into one of the Search Engines and you'll find tons of hosting companies, because it DOESN'T matter whether you are HOSTING a website or a BLOG, they're both just websites, they both have pages, text, images, videos & anything else you can thisk of that geos on a website.
They're just LAID OUT slightly diferently, and one is called a "WEBSITE" and one is called a "BLOG".

There are many mini sites. Incl squidoo, hotspot and typad. You got to reach all these avenue to increase you reach
