I moved back home with my mother after college. She lost her job last November and just recently got hired and started monday. Even though I have always been up to date on rent with her only paying $300/month she has gotten behind the last three months. During her time of unemployment she refused to work for anyone else again and only for her personal company which didn't bring in much at all. I have been saving up to move out and buy a new car. Last night she aggressively asked for me to loan her $1,600 for rent and that she'd pay me back when she gets paid mid next month. I am just confused why she needs the entire $1,600 when I have already paid my $300 so I'd be giving her $1,900 this month and that is a lot! Is something sounding fishy here? I love my mother to death, but I need to pay for my car tags and get my truck fixed and this is really going to set me back. She will be making 82K/yr and I make 55K/yr.
Am I overreacting? Do you think she will keep her word? We don't really need this big of a house, we really need to downsize but she refuses.
