Property owner lying??

It is illegal to remove any personal belongings without a court order and even with a court order it is still not allowed. Charging more than the rent amount is also illegal. All your parents can do is sue this guy for constructive eviction & any money he has illegally over charged.

When a lease expires it goes to a month to month. You are still legally required to give a proper notice to vacate. If your mom did not do that then she may legally owe more rent.

as long as the rent was paid your landlord CANNOT invade your premises

if you leave any single item in the house when the rent has not been paid, he should notify you of a specific time to get your stuff which if you do not comply he can dispose of

he cannot put it out on the street without first giving you time to retrieve it

call the police and have the property owner arrested for taking the property, he has no right at all to do so, he needs to go thru a court of law which takes a minimum of 30 days to follow eviction notice and court order, so, have the bum arrested! call the police back and demand they do the job of law they are paid to enforce!

You don't have all of the information, you need to talk to your parents.

You called the cops and not say anything to them?

so my mom thinks me and my brothers would be best off with our grandparents and she is moving everything out of our old house.(she and her gf are moving somewhere else) and so the property owner told her to get EVERYTHING out of the house by this afternoon. He comes by and starts hauling our stuff out of the house forcefully and sticks it on the curb. when she called the cops, he said the house was abandoned for a while, which it was not. we have been their day and night getting things out and living there. can we do anything about him coming into the house like that?? or something? or can we do something about him taking RENT money what seems like every week when we already paid it off for the time being??ughh!
