If you don't want to provide that info, the LL can choose not to renew your lease and you will have to either move or sell your house.
Are you the owner or tenant? You can't be both. The landlord has a right to obtain reasonable information such as the nearest family. Not only is it needed for emergency purposes, but if you were to vacate early the landlord can contact family members to locate you. If you don't provide the information it's likely your lease won't be renewed.
They are correct, and the alternative to providing updated info is they don't renew your lease and you go bye-bye.
It's relevant for them to have updated tenant information, for a variety of reasons.
what is the big deal about giving them ONE phone number?
Ok so we own the house, just not the property. Our new lease is up, and the property owners want new information. They live about 5 states away and claim they have the right to know emergency contact information in the event we should die- who our belongings would go to..... I'm just skeptical of the whole situation and told them I would not provide the information until they proved it's relevance. In their email, they said to look it up on the internet.... low and behold, I can find no such information. Can anybody help me with this? Has anybody else been in a similar situation?
