Rent Question?

You have to notify you're landlord that you're moving, even if it's at the end of your lease. Normally 30 days notice. Most leases, if there is no notice of moving or renewal, become month-to-month at the end of the lease, till you have 30 days notice that you're moving.

The rent paid on the 1st is almost always for the month that starts on the 1st.

Read your lease. If you have to give 30 days notice before moving out, you have missed that deadline so you are up for August's rent. If your lease requires you to be out by the 31st July, your landlord has failed to advise of this and the deadline has been missed. You are up for August's rent.

If your lease is due for renewal, which is the most likely, you are still up for August's rent.

It's only due if you're staying another month. If moving, you should officially give notice to your landlord. If renewing your lease another year, also let the landlord know.

If moving, the landlord usually will start showing it as soon as possible for Aug 1 tenants.

I think / hope you can figure out the rest yourself.

If you are out of the house by the end of July I don't feel you would be responsibe for August rent payment when you would not be living there.

I'm just wondering if somebody can shed some light on this. My lease for my house that I'm renting is up on July 31. Is another month of rent due August 1st or is that it? I know that utilities are due for the previous month but is the rent that I paid on July 1st for July or for the previous month? We paid a deposit at the beginning of the lease if that matters.
