Your coworker is fine with paying $350 a moth towards you owning a home?
If you live in a warm climate, go for the trailer. If not get the apartment. Why? Because the cost to heat a trailer is hugely more expensive, especially the older ones which is likely what you plan to live in.
Don't forget to add in the expenses of utilities, insurance and lot rent.
It seems like the clear choice is the trailer. Has this roommate-to-be of yours confirmed that he is interested in being your roommate?
I have to move before the end of the year. I found a place this morning that I find suitable. (based on description, I'm going to check it out this weekend) I found a rent to own trailer, $2,000 down, $750 a month -in 2 years, I'll own my first home. Or I could opt for an apartment, $350 deposit, $750 a month. Either way, I'd have to get a roommate (I have an older gentleman [coworker] in mind). I'm struggling for custody of my children right now and the department wants me to separate from my husband til he can become a better parent. I HAVE to have my own place by the end of the year, preferably by next month. I was thinking I could get a loan and put a lean on my vehicle to get the $2,000. If I split the rent on the trailer home, the coworker and I would end up paying $375 each. All the other places I've called have a waiting list of 6 months or more, which wouldn't work the best for me. The trailer home I'm looking at isn't up for rent or lease yet. I was fortunate enough to call before the landlord could make the ad. I'm excited about getting my own place! My finances are low, that's why I want the coworker and I to do this together. He's a 65 year old, he's nice (as far as I can see) I'm just not sure if he's roommate material. I can't expose my babies to a bad environment. The trailer park I looked at is in a good community. I'm just trying to leave my abuser! I can't return to my home state til I regain full custody. (Hopefully next month, if I find a place)
