Renters complaining about neighbors tree?

Posted at: 2015-03-04
If these same tenants called and asked if you would call a neighbor that lived two blocks away because their leaves blew in the yard off their tree what would be your response?

You are not able to do anything about the leaves from teh tree 2 blocks away, nor the stuff being dropped by the tree of the neighbor next door.

You might tell your tenant there is nothing you are able to do about the tree and the stuff being dropped.

I hope this has.been of some benefit to you, good luck.

"FIGHT ON"

In the words of the People's Court - you are allowed to cut the tree that is encroaching on your yard. On the property border you can cut straight up to the highest heavens or down to the deepest core of the earth.

That said - it's your yard and if you like the neighbors tree, then you say "get over it". Which is what I would do. Their tree is providing shade to your property which reduces you utility bills and saves water.

You are allowed to cut off any part of the tree that is encroaching on your property. Better to talk to neighbors first.

Tell your tenants to get over it. There is nothing that you can legally do to stop things from falling off trees.

renter do not have a legal limb to cut.

as for u - learn the laws where the house is a

laws vary city/town not just state.

"Stuff"? Lots of trees drop stuff. There are no "laws" on this. It's up to you as the property owner to judge whether the tree is really a problem or safety issue.

You can call the neighbors and ask them to trim their trees back.

Well, neighbors usually aren't happy if they don't have something to complain about. If it is not about plants, it is about pets, children or noise.

call your county or city ordinance department and ask.

Our tenants just called us saying the neighbors tree is dropping stuff in their backyard. They want us to call the neighbor and have them cut their tree. What are the laws on this in California?
