You can ask her to take less. If she doesn't, you can walk away.
A specific property can be offered with many variations, such as whether you get off-street parking or free wi-fi, or whatever. A landlord with many units may offer a "range" for the differences between units (location, size, access, view, newness, etc), rather than trying to list all prices of all variations.
You may be overthinking it. First thing she isn't trying to scam you. Shes looking for a good tenant for her property. She most likely has multiple properties and cuts and pastes similar ads on the message boards. Rental price differences are also used to look for longterm renters (Longterm renters are usually far more desirable than a short term) and landlords will give a lower rate for stability.
If you like the property and would like to see it, call her and schedule a walk through. If you like the place , offer to rent it, offer a full year term, negotiate your rent payment. and for Pete"s sake, treat it like a business transaction. The Landlord is looking a good, trustworthy and reliable tenant like you are, over someone who is manipulative and not reliable.
Good luck
An apt locator can help you find another place.
Easy offer her the lower price, if she doesn't accept walk away......
Unless you can meet her in person in the apartment it is a scam. Often people steal info from for sale houses and scam people saying they are for rent.
So this is my first time renting and the apartment I'm looking at is LISTED at $1475.00. At the bottom of the page it says rent starts at $1475-$1575. I called the lady for a showing and she said $1575. I also looked on another website and the same apartment is listed for $1475 but at the bottom of the page it says rent starting at $1400-$1600, it's also listed at $1475 and is being sold by the same lady. Why is it listed at $100 less then what she's asking? Is she trying to scam me? And why is there a price difference on one website to the other?
