Of course the room mate who left doesn't leave the utilities in her own name. Of course your gf must apply for them in her own name, and pay deposits or what ever else they want. Where do you live, pie-in-the-sky land? You need to smarten up, oh, and unless she has already signed the new lease in her name only she may be out on the street in a month with an eviction on her record. And when the new room mate moves in she had better be on the lease too. Landlords usually frown hard upon undisclosed tenants. Including boy friends.
You obviously have to call the respected company to let them know. Is your GF on the lease right now? You are kind of unclear.

So my girlfriend's roommate is moving all her stuff out today, even though she isn't officially off the lease for a couple days (the 1st of the month), whatever. She's a huge *****.
Anyways, this chick had all the utilities, cable, and WiFi in her name, since my girlfriend was 17 when she moved in. She's 18 now, old enough to have her name on the lease, but that would just make her responsible for her half of the rent (she has a new roommate coming). What does she do to get the utilities in her name so we don't get our lights and water shut off? Is it as easy as calling the company/ies and telling them the situation? Or would we have to get a new account or something with the company?
