Selling EBooks Legal?

Totally not legal. Even if you had not stolen the books, the rights to e-books are not transferable, and cannot be sold legally. Besides, anyone interested in buying an e-book like this would know it was an illegal copy, and if they were not worried about the breaking the law they could just get it for free like you did.

If they are not in the Public Domain or are PLR, you would be committing acts of Digital Piracy (Intellectual Property theft) if you sold Copyright protected work. And, if convicted could face a prison sentence of up to 10 years. It really is that serious.

Incidentally, a book does not have to have the (C) symbol: Copyright is automatic.

That would pretty obviously be seen by Ebay as a form of theft, last I heard they don't allow digital products to be sold.

There is a class of legal resalable publications called Private Resale Rights (PLR) you might look into.

Unless they are in the public domain, it would be illegal to sell them.

I downloaded like 600 EBooks from a torrent site would it be illegal or would I run into copyright right issues in the future if I sell them each individually on ebay? I was going to upload the Ebook on a filesharing site like mediafire and then just send them the link to download it when they buy it, and if I can do this would paypal work?
