You should Google property managers followed by the city in California that the school is located. Call some of the property managers to see if they would provide you a list or rental units they would have available. They might direct you to their web site for the information
I just left California a week a go. Gas prices when arrived were in the $3.89 range and when I left were in the $405.00 range. Perhaps the price has dropped since my departure. You are gonna need a vehicle to get around in California. The public transportation is not the best in the world.
You might would want to contact the school you plan to attend for any information they would be able to provide as to housing availability and other things that would be important in you making your decision to attend this school.
After rereading your statement, it might be that you would need to have a conversation about your goals and what you want to achieve. You are going from a science major to a fashion school.The two are not related in any shape or form. Making a drastic change might mean that you are temporarily exhausted and would need a break from your current grind.
There a times when things get tough and tough decisions are required to be made. You are now at the crossroads where you would need to make one of those tough decisions about your future.

The fashion Institute in LA is a good school but a degree from there will not guarantee you a job, other than in a retail sales position which you could get on your own. Not worth the financial investment. Good Luck
