Should my landlord replace a missing knob on stove?

Landlord can rent it "as is", you can ask for a stove knob, but he doesn't have to give you one. The light bulbs are totally your expense.

Personally I would rather spend the three dollars for a knob than alert my new landlord that I'm going to be a royal pain in the behind.

Good grief. You can replace those items for a paltry amount by visiting HomeDepot or similar. You can certainly ASK, but he is not required to replace light bulbs or stove knobs.

Yes you landlord should replace your stove knob, but the light bulbs are your responsibility. If you haven't signed the lease yet, you should include the stove knob being replaced in the contract with a deadline date when it must be replaced. If you have signed the lease, you need to inform the landlord in writing that the knob is missing and needs to be replaced.

The knob should have been mentioned during the walk through, but put it in writing before you move in. And just to avoid issues when you move out, take pictures of each room. Lightbulbs are your responsibility

Put all these things as stipulations in the written lease agreement, especially the missing knob, because sometimes those knobs can be hard to find and kind of expensive. You don't want to be charged for it when you move out. Do a walk-through with your landlady before you move in, and write down all the things that need to be done/fixed/replaced before moving in so you are both on the same page about things from the get-go.

I just payed the deposit and 1st months rent on my new place and today I did a day time walk through. I noticed a knob was missing on the stove. Does my landlord have to replace that? I mean, I shouldn't have to right? Also there are some missing light bulbs around the apartment as well. One in the bathroom and 1 in the bedroom. I shouldn't have to buy those right? I know if they would of gone out on me while already living there I would have to buy them, but shouldn't my landlord replace them first. I'm not moved in yet, so should I talk to her before I actually move my stuff in?
