Should my old landlord be responsible for fees?

Sorry, i couldn't add an update for some reason, so I'll say it here.

The old landlord was in charge of the EFT. I had no say so about the money coming out or not, and was told by them it was their mistake too which is my they're giving it back. Sorry that wasn't clear.

WRONG> The landlord can't stop this. It had to be stopped by YOU.

You are wrong. You set up the auto pay with your bank. Only you can cancel it.

No, your landlord is not responsible for this. YOU are. Have you never heard of maintaining your checking account ? YOU cancel those payments, not the payee(s).

I'd go with a different bank with much lower fees. $240 for a bounced check? That's when you know they're ripped you off.

Uh no. It is your responsibility to cancel all payments, not theirs. You didn't stay on top of it, so your issue. Sorry, but next time stay on top of things to make sure they get done.

My old landlord didn't cut off the automatic payment for our rent in time so an extra month's rent came out. They are returning it to us, but since $900 that we weren't expecting, came out of our account, our new rent bounced. We are now looking at $240 in fees for our rent bouncing that I believe my old landlord should be responsible for. Am I correct, or no?
