Started a blog in January and have few questions?

Getting 300 a day is quite respectable, better than the average blog. You might read up on squeeze page designs, it's always helpful to provide the user with fewer confusing options, hard core sales pages lack links to exit the page, but that sort of design can hurt the search quality score, it definitely would increase the Adwords traffic cost.

there are various opt-in plugins that presents a popup, dimming the remainder of the page or that slide in as a footer bar.

Of course you need an autoresponder account to best utilize the emails, most services like aweber require users to sign up with their form. You should also have an email sequence of mostly useful information pre-written to keep your subscribers from forgetting and unsubscribing you. Thise autoresponder services are more expensive than site hosting, Mailchimp is a free one that only accepts lilly white promotions.

You need to capture the leads by giving your website visitors an incentive to join your email list. Depending on your product or services this could be in a form of a coupon or even free information (report, audio, weekly tips, etc). It needs to be something of value otherwise you won't get too many signing up.

You can use autoresponders to schedule the emails to be sent to them automatically. For instance a weekly email tip. Autoresponders allow you to pre-load your email content and email your subscribers based on the schedule you set from the time they subscribed. Eg if they subscribed to weekly tips, someone who subscribed 10 weeks ago would be receiving email 10 whilst someone who have just subscribed 1 week ago would have only received email 1. This is all automated.

300 visitors a month is not a lot. To help you get more visitors you need to a bit of on-page and off-page SEO.

On-page SEO: keep adding fresh relevant and engaging content, utilise keywords in your post, title, description, tags, image file names etc.

Off-page is about getting high quality backlinks. That is, get your url (web address) on websites that rank very well where your target audience are so they are likely to find your website link and click through to your website if they like the content you have provided. Consider doing a video and uploading to Youtube with a backlink to your website in the descriptions. Or write an article and submit to article directories.

Maintaining a blog is really not that easy.As you have said, you just started on January therefore only 4 months in the web ans as I can see, your doing great. All you have to do is be patient, promote you site as often as possible in all bookmarking and social networking sites. There are lots of them.Good luck!

Firstly things were slow as to be expected, but now for last few months been getting on average 300 unique daily visitors. Is that good progression from starting in January this year?

Second question is, a lot of visitors come to site, they read what they wanted to land on and then leave. I do not get a lot of registrations. Should I be doing something to try and capture email addresses or something. I don't want to continue as I am and in a few years think, damn why did I not do that back then. The blog is a wordpress one. Also I host it on own web server/domain..

Any help appreciated.
