Personally, I'll stay away form any tricks regarding search engines. Your best and safest bet would be engaging in direct marketing. For four reasons: less competition, less work, easier to do, higher quality response. If you do this first, you'll get higher positioning in search engines.
Remember, regardless of Google, Crome, Safary, etc... algorithms, they give higher ratings to quality content. Not to people who want to take a shortcut to the top.
Convince yourself, read "a legacy in advertising." by Claude Hopkins. You'll know what I mean.

Google hasn't introduced any major ranking algorithm updates for a while. Any ideas what SEO tactics and strategies are they going to hit next? Guest posting? Low quality content? First sentences keywording?
