If you ask this in the immigration section an expert will tell you exactly what profession you need to be in before you can qualify for a work visa...so, go to the "politics and government " section.
Obviously you have to start with obtaining a VISA. Which means finding a job, with an employer willing to sponsor you. You can't do that without a degree from a university.
You will either need cash to buy the house or a job to qualify for a mortgage. In order to get a mortgage in the US, you need two years of steady employment on a job. In order to get a job in the US, you need a work Visa, which means you need to have a job lined up and a sponsor (your expected employer). More information on getting your Visa is here: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en...
You need a two year job history & good "American" credit before you can buy a house. You will need to find a job & rent until you qualify to buy. As for immigration, I would ask that question in "polictics & government" section of Yahoo Answers.
