The owners cannot just keep your mail. Tampering with mail not addressed to you is a federal crime. They must either give it to you or mark it "person not at this address" and give it back to the mail carrier.
Go to post office they have the redirection mail forms to fill out, then as your mail comes to you let all that write you know your new address , I think the first six months are free but if you need it longer you may have to pay a small fee.
Go to US Postal Service website at http://www.usps.com and fill out a change of address. Then the post office will forward all of your mail to your new address.
File a Change of Address with the Post Office.

This is my first time moving, ever! And I don't know how to go about this. I've been living at my home since I was born with my family but now the people who rented the house need it so we must move after 20 years. I am also pregnant now and moving in on my own with my fiancé. We must move by oct. I just don't know what I could do about my mail. Like the very important ones like the dmv anything to so with social security, my insurance, especially now I am getting a lot of mail because I am pregnant. I already know my new adress and I am changing it to the places I've been to like my doctors office and I also called my insurance company about my adress change but what about the places I don't remember? And going back to the house and asking for my mail would be a bad idea since my family and the landlord are leaving on a really bad note. So I doubt they would give us our mail and I don't really want to ever go back either. So is there anything I can do?
