I could say that same thing about a lot of tenants. If you are pestering them or violating the rules it's more likely they will be mean and rude to you. If you have a good attitude and treat others with respect, you will likely be given the same courtesy.
LL are not supposed to be your friend. In my entire life I have never had any problem with LL. You have a lease, you pay it on time and that is the end of it.

Well, you should not be paying anything other then rent, repairs and any late fees.
