Why do people park outside my house?

it really angers me and when they live next door as well they can't even use their own space outside their house

You don't own the road. It may well be inconsiderate but it is not illegal. Anyone can park anywhere there are no restrictions in place. I used to live in a small terrace house where there was only a narrow pavement between my sitting room window and the road. Every day someone who lived in the next street parked their big blue van outside my sitting room window and I could do nothing about it except get used to a hazy blue sitting room.

Why does it anger you? It happens all over the country.

Do you own the road? No, thought not.

why do they park outside your house ??? Probably because its the public highway and unless there are parking restrictions then anyone can park there. You may own / rent your house, but you don't own or rent the public roadway outside your house

I know it can be frustrating - I have lived in a terraced house for 15 plus years - but its the price you pay for living in a place with no driveway or reserved parking.

There is nothing you can do, other than grin and bear it or move !

People are able to park anywhere that it is legal to park. It is legal to park on any public street that is not restricted in some way like street sweeping days, trash pick up days(in come cities there is normally a 2 hours restriction for the city to provide these services), the road being repaired and is posted by the company or city that is doing the repairs, that you are not able to park for a certain period of time..

You do not own the parking space in any portion of the city to include one that might be directly in front of your house or apartment.

I hope this has been of some benefit to you, good luck.

"FIGHT ON"

Because they love your house.

they are not breaking the law as long as they are not obstructing access to a drive ( with a dropped curb ) People don't own the road outside their house, the owner of the property has no more right to park there than anyone else.

Unless you OWN the street it is public property, and any road-legal vehicle can park there if there are no posted parking restrictions...

If this is a genuine question, and it REALLY "angers you" when people park outside you house, you should talk to your doctor to make sure you are not suffering from a hormone imbalance or a psychiatric problem...

theoretically the highway belongs to the local authority, so the practice is rude, and the culprits should shift the hell away! permission is needed to park on a verge and to leave the car in a way not reversed for the nighttime - in line with traffic flow, and red lighted if at end house

Because they live there u nitwit

it really angers me and when they live next door as well they can't even use their own space outside their house

Are you sure they own the space outside their house? I bet it is PUBLIC parking, as is the space you are feeling so possessive over.

If you feel that strongly about it go talk to them, explain why you feel they should not park there.
