Why is the Rolex brand so over rated?

a watch is a watch and people buy watches for 10 pound then people buy watches for £1000.00 why would you do that???

They buy it to show off to everyone how rich they are. A rolex comes with a lifetime guarantee but in order to validate that guarantee you have to get it officially "serviced" by a rolex dealer at a cost of £150 per annum for the rest of your life. Rich people have so much money, they don't know what to do with it, so they buy Rolex's, BMWs, mansions and lead a playboy lifestyle till the money runs out.

A watch to many is a statement. Same as a car. You can buy cars for a hundred or hundreds of thousands of pounds. I would not say that Rolex itself is over rated - it's just that you can't fathom why anyone would spend that amount of money on something you could buy for a few quid. Well the same goes for many material things. They are statements. Reflections of the people wearing them. I personally would never spend a ridiculous amount of cash on a watch, or a pair of shoes, or a handbag - but people do. There will always be brands that cater for the elite. And that is what Rolex does.

Rolex is the only premium brand name easily pronounced and remembered in English. Also 50% of the profit goes to charity. That is why the name is highly rated.

Rolex is not even a designer brand, and it is among the cheaper of the hand assembled Swiss brands.

About 70% of all (not Swiss) watches are assembled in sweat shops in China.

Some men are under the false impression that a Rolex will get them women. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

A Rolex will cost a lot more than 1K. They cost this sort of money because they are works or art and the best quality you could ask for. A £10 watch will look like what it is and probably not last as long as the £10 note that paid for it.

They are good quality.. So I would say.. No they're not
