You would be effectively starting from scratch, as fr as search engine traffic, a big help would be ti retain the old address and place a 301 (permanent) redirect to the new site, ideally all the inner pages with backlinks and significant traffic would have a 301 redirect to their counterpart at the new url, search engines recognize those redirects, which effectively forward the backlink juice to the new pages.

Consider running the old and new sites in parallel form a time, perhaps having only theme matched content o n the new one, there is the Canonical tag which can indicate the master source of duplicated content you want to get the most search ranking.

I have a blog that's up and running quite successfully. However, I was talking to my husband this morning and he suggested me to change the blog URL and and Blog title.
