2.the free boxes are the priority boxes
flat rate boxes small-if it fits its ships for $5.80
flat rate medium box $12.35
large :$16.85
or sometimes it's cheaper to use your own boxes and believe it or not sometimes priority is cheaper than standard mail
3.you can get as many priority boxes as you want and save them for whenever
4.you don't need a scale at home you can sometimes use a bathroom scale but if it only ounces some bathroom scale won't weight it but you can even go to walmart & get a scale that actually measure the weight of food
5.you can mail it from post office or you can print the label off paypal or ebay which online prices are a little cheaper than going to the post office...the post office will weigh it and give you a price
Your shipping and handling fee generally covers packing as well as shipping cost. I don't know about free boxes, though some services have free ones like the USPS flat rate shipping (probably not the best deal) you may have to use discarded bodes or buy some at the UPS store, etc.
Generally the post office can weigh the package and give you the exact postage charge for that weight.
The answer to your question is no -- no one know EVERYTHING about selling on eBay.
You need far more help than anyone here can provide. Get a book on eBay selling and read the chapter about shiupping first.
Too much to answer. Just read this article on How to Sell on eBay. It tells you all of that and a lot more.
