And it is very unfortunate that this is the one thing advertisers (and politicians, leaders and media) count on for spreading unfounded claims--that you won't bother to check it out.
no their not allowed to lie. knowingly ,however u got to pay very close attention to the exact words they say, eg.4 times more protection than other leading tooth past. could be tooth paste in a third world country. or 9 out of ten detests surveyed say were the best. best what drumming up new clients, making new cavities u see what in getting at, big company's have big lawyers that tell them exactly what to say to stay within the gray area of truth. after all who would buy a product that said were more expensive, don't work as well, taste bad smells bad.and has no warranty worth mentioning.
truth is most products that do the same thing also have the same active ingredients with different colors and smells and differentt clubs pushing the product. so it all boils down to who do u like the best not what product but who endorsed it that u trust and their actors that were givingn a sample so they can say with clear consciencee they use it themselves
Most of that stuff is tricky. Sometimes they pay scientists to make up studies. The truth is a matter of manipulation. Most of the time they get away with it cus what's one consumer gonna do against a corporation?!
some do dome dont
I know its false advertisement, and I know like medicine commercials can't lie saying there product doesn't have paracilin because people could be allergic. But I mean can a tooth paste commercial say their product is 4 times more protective or a movie is the "number 1 rated movie in America" or what? Can they legally do that?
