Can I fit a shirt in a first-class mail?

Posted at: 2015-03-04
I have to ship out a shirt tomorrow and I'm worried about how to ship it because I didn't think about it when I listed my item on eBay.

The United States Postal Service (USPS) bases pricing of mail on a combination of size, weight, shape, destination, item valuation, and class of service selected.

The example information below is factual, determined using the USPS Calculation page, and based on sending a padded envelope from one United States location to another. If you decide to use the higher priced Priority Mail Flat Rate service, USPS provides free padded envelopes or small boxes, with the postage cost a fixed amount. The current rates for this service are also included.

Use the USPS Calculation page link below to determine the exact postage for the weight and size item you are mailing. Enter the destination, select using a box (package) for mailing, enter the weight, and get the required postage amounts.

ADD'L...

To secure the item being sent, suggest placing the shirt into a closeable plastic bag or wrapping it in layers of gift tissue paper, then into a closeable plastic bag, for added protection inside the box or padded envelope. Seal the padded envelope or box, address the package, and take it to the Post Office branch near you for shipping (too thick for collections box opening).

The big box office supply stores along with some of the discount stores like Dollar Tree sell padded mailing envelopes in a variety of sizes. These can be used to mail an item, providing the protection of a light weight padded package.

Ignore DG, that's a very stupid answer. The best way to ship a shirt is First Class in a poly mailer. That will most likely cost you less than $3.

Why not use a USPS priority mail flat rate box? if not mistaken...I believe the rate is $5.95 for the smallest box and $7.95 for a larger size flat rate box. Not sure if you can get delivery confirmation automatically

when you ship...but if you should have to pay separately, delivery confirmation should be no more than .40

Highly recommend using delivery confirmation so you can track the package, and insure it reaches your buyer safely.
