If the company owns the car but allows you to use it for your job and privately No They can do what they like with their property
No. The car is provided for your use on company business and of course you can also use it for your private motoring (mostly but conditions often apply) ~ but, the bottom line is that it is NOT your car!
If the company decides that it is advantageous to them to have advertising on the car then the decision is theirs to make and yours to put up with. Could it be that your friends believe it to be your car i wonder.
If you are not taxed on your earnings for the use of a company vehicle and you use it for pleasure as well as business use then you cannot refuse the advertising.
