This is called drop-shipping. It's a bad idea for newbies, because you have no control over the fulfillment. If the third party makes any mistake, you will be negged. Now that eBay is suspending any account with a single DSR lower than 4.68, a couple of bad transactions would ruin your account and could get you suspended.
If you think you can flip a $30 item for $50, buy one and and see. If it works, look into buying several at a quantity discount. More profit for you and you have control over fulfillment.
When you agree to sell something on ebay you have to ship it as soon as the customer orders it. You could get around this if you buy the thing for 30 dollars if you put their shipping address instead of your own. This is considered fraud in some states however, because you are selling a good higher than its traded market value. Check with the state laws, or just don't get caught

You are talking about drop shipping and you can only do that from companies otherwise if anything goes wrong on your side where the item is not as described upon arrival to your customer or broken in transit YOU will end up with THEIR BAD FEEDBACK and have to give a refund for the item. Then your out how much money? Their $50.00 and your $30.00 all for a lousy $20.00 bill? Plus you would never be able to have the item returned to you sense the buyer would have to prove return to the address it came from so the people you buy the cheaper one from would get the item and you are out all that money. And your seller will have no obligation to refund anything to you because you never got that item because of your own words to send it elsewhere, they arent going to resend it to you because you didnt want it in the first place.
It would be safer to buy the $30.00 one and have it sent to you then you resell it yourself.
Drop shipping from a company is safer then buying another auction cheaper and having your seller send it to another address. Items are handled alot more gentle and arrive more safely when coming right from the company. Plus you will need to qualify and buy a vendors license
So I'm thinking, what if I put an item on ebay selling for 50$ + shipping, and right when someone pays me, buy the exact same item for 30$ from somewhere else and have it shipped to the person who first paid me. Would that work, and has anyone done it? World is work using just a PayPal account?
