WordPress hosting can be very cheap, especially if you have modest requirements for your site. For a few bucks a month, you can get shared hosting with a reliable provider, and this will serve you just fine, in the early days at least.

WordPress is a great blogging platform, which requires hosting. There are both types of web hosting solutions available: free and paid. If blogging is your profession and you are blogging seriously, then never go for free hosts.

They do but they're not very flexible. If you want to add themes, plugins etc you're better going off with the self-hosted WordPress.org version. After all, hosting starts at ~$5 range.
