The Vintage Category is for items that are at least 20 years old. Items in this category are not required to be handmade.
You can't sell them on Etsy if they aren't handmade by YOU unless they qualify in the craft supplies category (which purses really don't) or the vintage category. Etsy's definition of vintage is anything that is 20 years old or older. So unless they are that old, you can't sell on Etsy. Try eBay instead.
Handmade, vintage or supplies for making handmade items. I think vintage stuff is less than 70 years old. They probably need to be fifteen years old or so to be considered vintage.
what you sell on etsy doesn't have to be home made. vintage, old, new, whatever you want.

because my mom bought some purses a long time ago and they're still in pretty good shape, unused and everything. would it be uncouth of me to sell them on Etsy even though i didn't make them?
