The savings are just not worth the risk of getting something stolen or a counterfeit that doesn't even run iPhone apps. Any deep discounts suggest something very fishy. Ebay has some seller rating system, based their prior sales history. Craigslist is a shot in the dark, anyone can advertise anonymously there, it's a favorite for stolen goods and oversees scammers.

I assume there's a reason you are not getting a discounted, subsidized phone with a contract.

Well..Ebay is about 500% safer than Craigslist- providing you are dealing with an established Ebay seller.( I'd avoid the ones that just signed up)

As noted above Craigslist is often a fence for stolen goods since all you need to sell there is an email address. If you do decide to do a Craigslist deal ( for anything ) under no circumstances send money to anyone . Only deal face to face seeing the merchandise first-hand.

If you are going to use either one then Ebay would be the choice. Ebay does have seller ratings and supplies feedback. Ebay offers buyer protection program. If don't get what you ordered they will investigate and refund your money if the investigation reveals that in fact you did not get what you ordered. The most important thing is to contact the seller and get the ESN#. Contact the service provider and make sure that it can be activated.

I wouldn't buy an I phone of Ebay or Craigslist ... you don't buy high end electronics off of those type of sites

There is risk with both, but ebay is generally safer.

Hi, just looking something to get for Christmas so therefore I am up to an Iphone 5s. Anyway comparing the prices on Ebay with the prices on Craiglist is very big difference. So therefore I do not understand why.

Anyway I heard that many people had problems with their devices after their purchase, such as blacklisted.

Could someone please tell me if it's safe to buy of Craiglist or could you please tell me a website where I could buy one for a good price (new/used).
