NEVER EVER Pick wild mushrooms unless you know what you are doing or have an experienced mushroom hunter with you.
AS you found out many wild mushrooms poisonous and some are outright deadly. You are very lucky you did not kill this person.
Cultivated mushrooms are not poisonous because they use types that are edible. the fact you don't know this tells me you need a lot more training before you continue with your catering business, especially if you are going to wildcraft (what you did when you went out back and harvested poisonous mushrooms) know what you are doing.
You have found out the hard way that when you cut corners as you did sometimes you get burned.
if you are lucky the person will recover and won't sue you for millions of dollars and you will only loose your business and maybe a few hundred thousand dollars.
Oh Lily, I love eating wild foods, but the only place I pick mushrooms is at the supermarket. Most wild mushrooms are ok but there are too many for me thatare poisonous to one degree or another. Be grateful she didn't get one of the kind that kill with the first bite, there are some that are extremely toxic. There are others that attack the brain and nervous system causing damage and even hallucinations. The ones in the stores are of course the varieties that aren't harmful and are grown in a controlled environment where no other species can get in with them because of the hundreds of species of mushrooms that exist there are too many that are not safe to eat. I can't tell the difference enough to gamble my life on it. And I love mushrooms. Lets hope she gets better and is of a forgiving nature. I don't think you're in a position of strength if it goes to court.
Yeah, if this isn't a joke, you're f***ed big time in direct proportion to her claimed damages. Stupidity like that justifies the punishment though.
For the love of god, get a lawyer, and stop cooking for people. i hear Wal-Mart is always looking to hire.
you put wild, unidentified mushrooms in a salad and gave it to someone...??????! your screwed
So i own a catering business and theres a forest behind the building. A client wanted a verity of salads and one of them was a mushroom salad.
