How can i tell if this organisation is legit?

I'm from India originally and now live in New York. I also interned in India for 8 months back in 2010. $400 is super cheap to be doing a volunteer program there. Where are you going to be placed? Is the housing going to be in a safe locality? Is there going to be any support when you get to India? I think 4 weeks for $400 is really kind of questionable. A normal program in India for 4 weeks is over the $1,000 mark so I would be very careful signing up for the organization you speak of. India is the type of country where you shouldn't focus on the cheapest program but rather good housing with clean food and safety. It's better to spend some extra dough and have your health and safety looked after!

You can check out Leave UR Mark...it is pricier but you can read a lot of experiences from previous volunteers and organizations that have hosted them through the blog: http://www.leaveurmarkindia.blogspot.com

Good luck!

Hi Kat

If you are looking program for Volunteering in India, you need to visit at http://www.volunteeringsolutions.com . It is well reputed company india and provide air-conditioned accomodation at an affordable cost. I had participated 2 times with volunteeringsolutions (for Volunteering program in India and Peru). Great experience. Now I am planning to go Bali with VolunteeringSolutions.

Ring them and ask them what the price includes, what do you do on it and stuff cus most of the time you have to pay for your own flights!

Also speak to people you know that have gone on missionary trips, if you go to a church ask them if they do missionary trips cus the church ones are often reliable and u r with people u know! If you don't go to church there are still some really good trips so look up websites and ring the number on the website and enquiry into it and see which one u find is most suited to you

check with the better business bureau
