At some point you have probably bought something and given your details for the Guarantee, this is then passed on to other companies.
There will have been a box (left unticked by you) that you will have needed to tick in order for that Company to not pass on your details.
No Government spying, just good old Marketing.
It will all have come from you, in an unsuspecting moment.
So you ask how people know your name who ring up and ask your name to complete a survey

Just read your own question and realise that because they ask you for your name everytime they phone you, they DON'T know your name. They only know your number and that is why they ask for your name everytime they phone.
Phone companies sell your information to other companies. You signed a contract.
Government or stolen identity
Screen your calls before answering.
im always getting these phone calls asking for my name to complete surveys and crap like that and its really annoying and to be honest im a little scared that they know my name and number and i have no idea how
