How much does a secret shopper get paid?

is secret shopper.com a good job or a scam do you know any?

Most shops pay $10-15 per assignment, but that's for about 3 hours of work in total by the time you count your transportation time to/from the assignment, 30-60 minutes to conduct the shop, an hour to fill out the evaluation form, then compiling your photos, receipts, etc and sending them in. You always spend your own money on any assignment, even if it's a $300/night room at a 5-star resort, and get reimbursed 30 days after you have submitted your evaluation form and receipts -- assuming it has all been filled in correctly. Many companies will not reimburse you if you do not answer a question, or if your receipt does not have a time and date stamp, or if you did not submit within 24 hours of conducting the shop, or any other breach of their contract

And for many services, you don't get paid at all - you just get reimbursed the cost of your haircut or car wash or manicure or carpet steam cleaning

You are lucky to get 1 assignment a month - it's not a job

These days most companies are now using their own employees to mystery shop their other locations instead of using agencies as it's MUCH cheaper to use their own staff.

I've done mystery shopping on and off since 1996 and am registered with GfK, one of the largest mystery shopping companies in the world, and there might only be 1-2 emails a month announcing new assignments. It used to be that you'd get 2-3 emails a week when assignments were available. And because there are so many shoppers going after those few jobs, if you don't log in and accept the assignment within 5 minutes of getting the email, the assignment is usually filled

A good way to start is a web search for: "secretshopper.com" scam

There certainly complaints out there, the first one I looked out talked about the classic Nigerian scam having you test western union by wiring a portion of the check you have been provided, ultimately the check bounces and you are legally and financially responsible for the entire amount.

Perhaps the majority of secret shopper offers out there are some sort of scam, of not total fraud like the fake check schemes, they may be earning a commission for everything they persuade you to buy.

That site has been around for 17 years, which could be a plus.

In my town, each job pays a small fee. For instance, to spend about half an hour at a fast food restaurant one gets paid about $15, plus the food that is purchased. It is not a full time job and most folks get no more than two or three such tasks per week.

I have read about secret shoppers in marketing and sales book. Generally, quality department people do this work for organisations.
