How to get people to pay.?

if they owe the market money than they do not get to set up in their space until they are paid in full. You guys should also be charging a membership fee to be paid in full before the season begins and if they do not pay, they do not get a space assigned.

I would not make a big deal out of it during market (there is a suggestion that you embarrass the vendor in front of their customers-do not do that, it will make you and the market look bad and the vender will get sympathy and end up looking good in the eyes of the public

So, anyone who comes to the next market who owes money should be given the choice before they park their truck/car/van-either pay the fees in full right now or turn the truck around and go home.

This will not be easy for you to do but if you do not show some spine, your vendors will continue to walk all over you and will continue not to pay their rent for their spaces

If you are also having problems with vendors coming in late the simple solution to that is to barricade the entrance after 10am so no one can drive onto the grounds and park (unless you also have customer parking in the same space, than you can't do this without alienating customers). You might also want to put into the rules that there will be fines for people who arrive late or simply put in a rule that if you arrive after the barricades go up you cannot sell that day (and maybe be charged for the space as well).

You will piss some people off but if you don't demand that they pay they never will

Many are probably busy with customers at that point. I had a friend who worked at a local market - there was a manager and then there was him, who was paid pretty much minimum wage to go around and collect the money from each vendor.

If you're standing at their booth and they're refusing to pay, you can kick them out, refuse to rent from them again, or start asking louder and embarrassing them in front of their customers. Or you can try a more understanding root by giving them a warning this time and tell them you'll be back in a few hours (give them a time) for the money.

Tell each of them that they MUST pay on time ( or inform you if they absolutely can't ) or they wont be allowed to have a booth. And if they usually come later ( like after they're supposed to ), just leave. Tell them that there will be NO MORE exceptions.

I'd make them pay in advance before I agree to give them a booth.

I work at a local Farmers Market as the manager. Vendors have to pay each day for booth rent. They are supposed to come by 10 a.m. , but they wont. How can i make them pay when they are supposed. Please give helpful comments. Thanks
