How to make a catchy website name?

you should probably consider a couple of factors:

-brandability, keep your name easy to remember and catchy so it stands out from the crowd.Do you want to brand your company or your own name?

-seo, do you want a headstrat in the search engines you probably want to use a couple of keywords early in your domain.

-keep it as short as possible.

Greetz,

I just talked to a new client about this last weed. Most people tend to say use keywords in your URL, but most businesses want brand identity and you can't have brand identity by using a URL (example) I-sale-widgets.com.

Try to think of a catchy name that is off the books and just to name a few yahoo, digg, twitter, facebook are just a few examples that were not found in a dictionary but made world famous.

Your best solution is to jot down short words that you like and maybe try a rhyme with them and see if one works. You can also gather a list of those that are in your niche and ask family and friends on the catchiness of the name.

Remember a catchy name can give you brand identity and more so than anything else it can allow you to obtain that domain name if it is a word not found. I tend to use a domain register to type in keywords for a domain to see if it's available and if so then I can secure my new website name.

I hope this helped in some way. Picking a domain name is the most critical part of your niche. Do it right and you can have success, make it to hard and no one will remember it.

Also, here is a link that has some great points on what I just talked about. This is not my website nor a plug for a website. I just searched for what I wanted to share.

If your site will occupy a niche at the intersection between two topics, look for domain names made up of two short words, one for each topic.

Many topics have been extensively covered online. You may have to make up your own word. I recently started a marketing dictionary website. Because marketing is well-covered, I had to make up a name from related words. I eventually called it Marketsaurus (MARKETing + theSAURUS).

The bonus is the the "SAURUS" also sounds like a dinosaur, so branding was easy. Check it out here: http://www.marketsaurus.com.

Think of the most exciting thing about the topic you want to rank and pick a word or a combination of words. Say you want to do a site on dating and relationships, you can choose myamazinglove, lizamazinglove, liztruelove. liztruequotes, getliztruelovenow, etc etc.

You can make the Domain name (website name) short, avoid hypens , register with .com ,register domain name that must suits your website...You can get the Domain name registration service at low cost from http://www.tucktail.com/
