If you are talking about free sub-domain website you can use blogspot, wordpress, weebly etc. I personally don't think that free website are helpful in marketing because you have to work very hard to get good ranking and business in search engine.
I'm in the same position man, but if you get a free website you can be shutdown anytime. Don't do it, pay for it I'm going to, ￡4 a month, easy man. Pay your own any ideas you have could be under copyright on someone's site they could take what they want when they want as it would be there site. It's free coz there paying.
You can try blogspot.com or some other free service.
Wix is good.
