Wow as you can see a lot of people are passionate about blogging and all of them have different strategies, however when it comes to business there are alot of things you need to take in to consideration, social plugins, link athority, backlinks, SEO, high converting offer, a sales funnel and it all can be very overwelming if you're brand new.

PS I disagree with Janet saying you need to be a great writer and able to write short blocks of text. What works is not set in stone, but telling a story is one of the best converse tactics. Trying to set random standards on your story like keep it short or with excellent penmanship just makes it harder to focus on your real goal: convert. The best way to convert is to be a real person. Choose a topic you know a lot about or enjoy reading about and researching.
Choose a narrow topic and stay focused.
Beware of trend niches.
Do keyword research and go for the long tail.
If it is worth it to you, invest in a decent WP theme. They tend to get kickass SEO. Just make sure to blog often and tag everything.
You must be a great writer who can pull people into your page with conversation that is not too long. Nobody wants long long blocks of text.
