They can't force it through. What they can do is once you agree to it is try multiple times over the next few days. Many of these telemarketers have gotten smart and will say they are recording the conversation for quality purposes. Once they have you agreeing to something they can try to force you to go though with it by reminding you that you agreed to it and they have it recorded and that it may be considered a legally binding contract.
Good on you for not telling him your credit card number!
If they get you on a line and make you talk to someone and they ask for your credit card number, its defiantly a scam. You do not need someone to keep on persisting for your credit card number.
Again, good on you for not telling him your credit card number.
Well someone who is not strong wield can be easily duped
There are many different kind of people.
I got this card in the mail that said that I was guaranteed to win one of these 5 prizes, and they were things like a new car, a $5,000 savings bond, a trip to Hawaii, a piece of jewelry, cell phone, etc, and it came with this pencil with a 5 digit code. Just out of curiosity, I called the number and first came a recording and it said 'if your code is xxxxx, congratulations you are a winner', and sure enough it was the one on my pencil. I knew already it was a scam, but I stayed on the line and this woman asked me 3 questions like 'are you over 18', etc, and then got me on the line with this other guy that tried to talk me into giving him my credit card number and letting him charge $599 on my Visa/MC and I would have to sell cosmetics, and I was automatically eligible to win one of the prizes
here is my question though - to get out of it, I told him I only had about $5 available on my Visa card (which was not exactly a lie), and he said to me 'well we have a very good relationship with Visa and MC and we are usually able to get it approved'. Here is my question - how on earth would they be able to force through a $599 purchase if I only have $5 in available credit?
but the guy tried for almost 45 minutes to get me to give him my credit card number and tried every possible way to talk me into it, but I didn't give in and he finally let me off the phone.
but I am just wondering how they would be able to force through a purchase like that? Anyone know?
